Welcome to my "Cross-Cultural Journey." I'm a follower of Jesus Christ seeking to live a "Cross-Centered" life of transformation and leadership as I "cross" cultures throughout the world. This blog is the fruit of a personal challenge to be able to verbalize, articulate, and retain all that the Lord has/is teaching me. May this site also serve as a type of "resource center" for all types of cross-cultural interactions as well as provide tangible ways for our prayer partners to better pray specifically. So, welcome to my Cross-Cultural Journey as a Christian, Husband, Father, and cross-cultural worker. Enjoy as you join me in life and ministry. "We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me."

These are some of the same expressions of Missional Living that we implement in other contexts around the world.

I thought I would post this helpful article here, because these 8 ways express shortly what we hope to continue training people on in a Lab setting and living out ourselves as a family.  Memphis Lab coming soon!

This is a quick update to all who have been praying for our Stateside travels.  We made it well and traveled well.  The kids were amazing and enjoyed every minute of it.  No one was sick and no one had fever during our flights.  We thank the Lord.

More updates to come including:  Some stateside observation posts, a new blog/website announcement, and more discipleship videos to come…

So, stay tuned and continue to pray for our time during this stateside.  Pray for refreshment and renewal in all ways.

This Psalm says better than I what we’ve experienced in these 14 short days in the states.  Psalm 116:1-7

I love the LORD, because He hears
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.  The cords of death encompassed me
And the terrors of Sheol came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the LORD:
“O LORD, I beseech You, save my life!”Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate. The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.

This was Teo and I at our last coffee in this city and country for a while.

I told him to “be a disciple Maker until he dies”! And wrote this in a book I gave him:

Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an exampleof those who believe. Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.  Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.  Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.

1 Timothy 4:12-16

Today I had lunch with my dear brother for the last time here in this country and city.  We rejoiced in the Lord for these past two years, and together encouraged one another.

This is the text I read to him:

Only be careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul

Joshua 22:5
I also read to him; Joshua 23:6, 8

All of this on my oldest sons 3rd birthday.  And oh the grace in his life…Emotional Day!

Video 2

In this video we talk about how we met and his reaction to my request to meet with him in discipleship.  Enjoy, and pray for this brother.

I’m privileged to finally get to introduce you to Teo in this next video series on Discipleship.  He embodies a young man ready for and thriving in discipleship.  His humility and readiness week after week is always refreshing.

I’m Honored, enjoy this series, and pray according to what you hear and are encouraged by.  And pray especially for Teo.

2 Timothy 2:2 for the Nations.

This is the vision I set forth about 6 months ago with a team of national brothers.  With this before us, we then launched our bi-monthly youth meetings teaching, modeling, and working to implement these elements of focus.

By the grace of God, we launched those meetings for this past spring semester and the Lord used our times together to press these young people to Christ.  Youth here in Europe could mean unmarried, or range from about 13yrs-30yrs of age.  So we had a large range to cover and we tried to do that in a more focused way through small groups after the main teaching sessions.

As we transition back to the States for a season, it will be up to the team of leaders I’ve poured into and some of the progressing youth to “take the baton” and see these meetings to Biblical soundness and continuation for this fall semester.  Please pray in regards to these meetings and that fruit would abound.

Here is the Vision we set forth: Vision for the Next Generation

Psalm 78:5-7

Elements of Focus:

  • Evangelization

 Romans 10:13-17, Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

  • Fellowship

 1 John 1:3, 1 Corinthians 1:9

  • Worship

Psalm 17:15, Psalm 29:2, Revelations 4:11

  • Discipleship

 2 Timothy 2:2, Deuteronomy 6, Joel 1:

  • Serving

1 Peter 4:11, 1 Peter 4:10, John 13:34-35

Biblical Vision:  Ephesians 3:20-21

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

 -Emphasis added.
